Mebendazole is an antiparasitic medication commonly used to treat worm infections such as pinworm, roundworm, whipworm, and hookworm. It works by inhibiting the worms’ ability to absorb glucose, which depletes their energy stores and eventually causes their death. Mebendazole is administered orally and is available over the counter and by prescription, depending on the region and specific health guidelines. Due to its efficacy and safety profile, Mebendazole is widely used in both adults and children for managing and eliminating intestinal helminthiasis.
More recently Mebendazole has shown promise in helping treat cancers in patients, and if often used in conjunction with Ivermectin.
